Mexico
will have the largest tourist plaza in Latin America
With
an investment of $80 to $90 million dollars at its completion in 2010, the
Cancun Messe in Cancun, Quintana Roo will be inaugurated as the largest
festival enclosure of Latin America.
The
Latin American General Director, Armando Zenteno Rudolph, assured that the
enclosure will be "the first window that Mexico will have to the world" and
will greatly count with the hotel and airport infrastructures to attract
buyers.
During
the Latin American Food Show 2010 presentation, it was emphasized that the
Cancun Messe will have an extended indoor area of 60,000 square meters, plus
50,000 meters of exterior area.
The
venue has "the possibility of attracting 28 million visitors a year, we will be
able to increase flights, bettering the tourism crisis and filling all the
hotels. Cancun will be converted from an
international tourist plaza, into a place where business will be launched".
Zenteno
Rudolph said Mexico counts with many enclosed fairgrounds, but lacks in
infrastructure, such as in Mexico City which has 60,000 hotel rooms with 55,000
that are always occupied therefore buyers do not attend the fairs.
On
the contrary, Cancun has 70,000 hotel rooms and in September, when the Latin
American Show occurred, they were mostly available. What was needed is a venue where events like
this could be held.
