Second Balloon Festival in Hidalgo

Hidalgo?s Ministry of Tourism announced the Second Paper Balloon Festival 2009, which will take place December 12 and 13, in which 500 Cantolla ballons will be released to try and break a record.

It?s the second time that this festival takes place in Sahagun City, in the municipality of Tepeapulco, in the Miguel Hidalgo stadium, located about 30 minutes from the city of Pachuca.

The organizing committee explained that the festival will begin at 11a.m. with different paper balloon workshops, and at 5p.m. there will be a cultural and artistic program.  It will be until 8p.m. next Saturday that the balloons will be released, in hopes to break a national record, which is currently held by the state of Veracruz.

This festival looks to create a tradition and attract more tourists to Hidalgo, which would help increase the state?s income, mainly in the region of Sahagun City, currently considered an industrial area.
