Meeting of Traditional Cooks
After a wave of celebrations surrounding the dead, during the
month of December the state of Michoacan will host various cultural and
gastronomic events, same as bear witness to the traditions and customs of each
region of the body, like the popular "Meeting Traditional cooks.
This important culinary event will take place December 4th to
the 6th at the Morelia Convention Center, where there will be samples given
out, regional cooking workshops, conferences, roundtables, exhibits, crafts and
local products (avocado, cheese, strawberries, coffee) and a section devoted to
sharing experiences with representatives of the countries of Colombia and
Argentina.
As part of the novelties of this year, attendees can participate
in five different categories: atapakuas (thick, rich sauce that accompanies
meat, cheese and other ingredients); corundas (also known as ash tamales in a
triangular shape); moles, cakes and preserves, cooking dishes under the rules
of experienced, traditional Michoacán cooks, who constitute the backbone of the
dossier submitted to the UNESCO to apply for the appointment of national
cuisine as a World Heritage.
